About ROD WINDOVER

Rod began his career in sports and action photography in 2017 when he purchased new Nikon gear and went to Calabogie Motorsports Park to learn how to take car racing photos. He was preparing to take photos at the upcoming Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix while on vacation.

He fell in love with storytelling through photos. He understands the technical aspects of action photography and strives to capture the speed and power and the passion of people for their sport.

Rod has broadened his interests in a range of sports. He has attended national championships in whitewater kayaking, football and international competition in volleyball and rugby and pro sports in Ottawa. He regularly attends Ottawa Blackjack games and Ottawa Atlético matches.

For several years, Rod was the official photographer for the Hydroplane racing League which races in Canada and the United States.

In 2021, he switched to Sony pro level photo gear. He capitalizes upon the performance of the latest mirrorless cameras, like like Sony a1 to complement his creative talent.

Rod, along with his friend and collaborator, Geri Porteous, is an Official Photographer of the Ottawa Dressage Festival. The ODF is a prestigious event which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2023 and in 2024 is a qualifying event for the Paris Olympic Games.

In 2023 Rod became a member of the globally recognized AIPS (International Association of Sports Press) as a freelance photographer. He has been an accredited photographer at UCI World Cup mountain bike races in Mont Ste. Anne and FIS World Cup alpine ski races at Mont Tremblant.

Rod remains a passionate and creative photographer whose goal is to reflect the love that people hold for their sports and events.
